Canopy Restoration

We are currently working on a project to restore part of the railway station.  The glass and wooden canopy which covers the platform is in a state of disrepair.  Work will begin later in 2016 to replace some of the timber, glazing and drainage.

As part of the restoration we saw an opportunity to carry out research into the history of the railway station. Since February 2016 people from the local community have been working with ARCH to source images and information from when the station was built to the present day.

We also have a new leaflet about the history of the station which you can pick up in the museum or view it here railway-station-history-leaflet

Thank you to the following funders for whom we would not be able to carry out the work without their contribution –  the Heritage Lottery Fund, Museums Galleries Scotland and Highland Council.
